Aix-Marseille Université (AMU) is now the largest French-speaking university by number of students, staff and budget. AMU received the “initiative of excellence” certification in 2016 and is now an intensive research university with international standing and strong local roots. Since 6 January 2020, the university has been led by Professor Eric Berton.
