Learning French

After arriving in France, you or your partner may need to learn or improve your French.

amU University Service of Languages (SUL) offers various French language and culture courses, and French language certifications (TCF, TCF DAP and DALF C1).

These long or intensive courses are targeted at beginner or non-beginner adults.

SUL has partnered with the Doctoral College to offer French as a foreign language lessons for PhD students enrolled at the university.

Other organisations offer French as a foreign language courses in Marseille and Aix-en-Provence. Lessons are held in a group or individually, in-person and/or online.

Some social and cultural centres also offer French as a foreign language lessons. These classes are generally open to all. Find out more from your local council (“mairie de quartier” in Aix-en-Provence or “mairie d'arrondissement” in Marseille).
